Welcome to the STM Blog
Stephen Woessner, host of Onward Nation, recently interviewed Art Boulay. The interview is focused on “recipes for success” learned in life and business
Hiring, developing and training the right people are the top three problems for most business owners and CEOs, STM can help you make those problems go away.
Accurate hiring selection is essential to retain top performers. Employees who fit into the values and culture of the organization stay and are engaged.
Because a manager’s role is to guide and evaluate the employee, the manager’s day-to-day behavior can be a potential obstacle to retention of top talent.
Success is the enemy of change. Change agents, typically considered to be outsiders and upstarts, bring new ideas to the table which can take an industry back to zero. Those who were successful under the old rules do not even recognize the rules have been changed. Because they have no preconceptions of what a “watch” should look like, change agents have the advantage.
Retaining top performers begins with hiring the right talent. It’s important to review the need for the position then analyze and quantify the skills and experience needed, as well as the right fit in the context of the organization’s values and culture. Topping it off with critical soft skills and attitudes, and a high level of energy and drive. All these elements then need to be compared to a candidate’s precisely measured talent profiles.
